Led fireplace without heating or used for heating

One of the most important issues to consider when choosing a built-in electric fireplace is whether you want to use it as a display fireplace only or for heating, because although the two are not mutually exclusive, it makes a difference to the installation.

While in the case of a simple display fireplace, the aesthetic value of the installation is the only consideration, in the case of a heating fireplace it is important to ensure that the electric fireplace is ventilated properly and that the heat it produces is radiated, i.e. that it can escape through the right place.

You should always buy the fireplace first

If you are your own worst enemy, you can work the other way round, but for built-in fireplaces, it is always a good idea to buy the fireplace insert first and practically match the outer casing to it, as this is the only way to achieve the right size and a pleasing aesthetic value.

Once the fireplace insert is in our possession, we are immediately aware of the installation parameters, so that we can take precise measurements of the width, height or depth, without having to rely on uncertain and often unreliable product data sheets, because every millimetre counts in this type of installation.

Although it is possible, it is very rare that we can buy an electric fireplace just big enough to fit into an existing opening, such as a previously created wall opening, in all respects, especially if we want to enjoy not only the visual appeal of the appliance but also its heating value.

It’s also important to buy the fireplace insert first because, in addition to the dimensions, you can then see, for example, which side the electrical connection is on, exactly where and in which direction it will blow out warm air, and any other features – such as the flanges – that may affect installation.
